If you are looking for a good book, I would highly recommend Legend. It takes place in the future and what was once the United States is now divided into two nations, the Colonies and the Republic, which are currently at war with each other. Fifteen year old June was born into one of the wealthiest districts of the Republic. She was a prodigy being prepared for success in the military and had everything she could ever want. However, when someone close to her is killed, she begins tracking down the main suspect, Day. Day is the Republic’s most wanted criminal but his motives may not be what they seem.
After finding Day, he eventually makes June realize that the Republic is not the nation she was raised to believed it was. However, this information is not new to Day. In the eyes of the Republic, all Day does is steal and terrorize. To Day, what he does is supporting his family the only way that he can.
I think Marie Lu is a great author because she does a very well job with capturing the emotions that both June and Day have throughout the book. There were also many transitions between Day and June as narrators. In my opinion, this could have made the book very confusing but the author made it flow very smoothly.
Legend will take the reader into a strange world filled with mystery and chaos. The storyline shows how not everything is as it seems, is full of surprises, and will keep you interested until you finish reading it.
