Lost Poetry
Little prose pieces
Swirled like seagulls by the shore.
She reached
Right up to catch them
And to steal the jewels they wore.
Instead the seagulls all dispersed.
Smooth feathers slid between her hands -
The birds would not be trapped in verse,
Or heed the poet’s reprimands.
