Water's Song
The water parts as the boat
Soars, through with intention
The waves on each side
As we glide and abide
By every rule, forced
Into our stroke,
We provoke the water
With a blade so sharp, it cuts
As we pull, we thrust
The thought that we must
End this battle, the oars
Moving in this rhythmic,
Simultaneous motion
The boat lurches with each
Pull, the boat lurches
Like church bells
We sing the song
Of parting water
We have started
Now must finish
We pull and at last,
The waves diminish
