The book caught my attention right away with the interesting suspense and nerve racking plot. The Cellar is written by Natasha Preston. She really does a terrific job on the story creating tension in each chapter. It begins simply with an ordinary girl named Summer leaving to go out for the night. She lives in a simple town with friends and family. As she takes on the night trying to find her friend, a sticky situation comes in hand. Summer is kidnapped and taken to an eerie cellar by a man named Clover. He renames her Lily and three other girls stay down there as well. The names of the three other girls are Violet, Rose, and Poppy. She is locked away with all of them and forced to follow a madman’s vision for a perfect family. If she tries to fight back, a horrifying issue awaits her, but is it worse than losing herself utterly and completely?

I generally enjoyed the book although some parts could be disturbing such as Clover doing some unauthorized things to the “Flowers” as he calls them. Another reason I appreciated the book was seeing the visions of many different characters and how they process things. Such as Summer, Clover,  and Lewis (Summer’s boyfriend). One of the only things I didn’t favor was the lack of description, I feel that she should have added more detail. All in all I would most definitely promote this book!
