Witch and Wizard takes place in a totalitarian state, a government that subordinates the individual to the state and strictly controls all aspects of life by coercive measures. Wisty and Whit are the first teens taken to an all-children prison in the totalitarian state. After their trial, they were taken to General Bowen State Psychiatric Hospital, where they were prisoned. Wisty and Whit tell their horrific story as they were taken away from their home, almost put to death, how they escaped the Hospital etc… Wisteria Allgood, who is 15, discovers her magical ability which is being a witch, bursting into flames, floating in her sleep, shape-shifting, and glow radio-active green. She also goes by Wisty. Whitford Allgood, 17, is a wonderful athlete, and he secretly struggles with depression after the unexplained disappearance of his girlfriend Celia. Whit is a wizard, with the power to conjure food, objects, and animals. He can also move objects with his mind, move at super speed. he goes by Whit. Celia who was murdered in a hospital is Whit's dead/ghostly girlfriend. She helps Whit and Wisty escape the Hospital into the Shadowland. Bryon Swain who is a classmate of the AllGoods turns on them to work with the Government, so he partakes in the Kidnapping of Wisty and Whit. Major events occurred when Wisty and Whit get kidnapped in the middle of the night by Byron Swain, a person they make fun of. Byron turns out to be part of the New Order, the people who want Wisty and Whit to admit that they are a witch and wizard. But Wisty and Whit didn't even know they had those powers. Then it was Wisty and Whit's trial in front of the New Order. They were found guilty and punishable to be hung until dead. In order to do that they must be 18 years old, and in less than a month Whit will be 18. Therefore, they were sent to the General Bowen State. Whit and Wisty go to their second trial and become "Extremely Dangerous". That means they were going to be executed immediately. Celia meets up with Whit and Wisty and helps them escape into the Shadowland so they won't die. Whit and Wisty help bail out children at the Overworld. While helping, they discover that their parents were captured again and are set to be vaporized. Also, Wisty turned herself into a mouse to help bail everyone out. Wisty is still in prison but she transformed back into a human. Then she ended up getting caught by security guards.

The writing is written in an effective and beautiful way for us students to understand. It uses a lot of massive vocabulary and it will be difficult for some readers to understand if they don't know the terms used in the book. The strengths of this book is that every scene gets more intense and interesting. it doesn't get boring or lost, it keeps you interested and updated with the story and what's going on. I found this book to be amazing. I loved it soo much. I couldn't put it down ever since I started reading the first few words of the book. I recommend this book to grades 8th through 12th because of the strong vocabulary in the book and because there might be scenes in the book that 7th grade and younger would not be able to comprehend easily like we do. I also recommend this book to all James Patterson lovers! If you love all his books, you will indeed love this book. Last but not least, I recommend this book to those who love mysteries, witchcraft, and science.

I loved this book so much, I could read it on, and on again. I’m glad that there's another book after the Witch & Wizard, because it kind of left me with that impression, is there another book after this? I have to know more. But warning! If you pick up this book and start reading, you will have difficulties putting it down. (:
