Twilight by Stephenie Meyer MAG

May 30, 2008
By Anonymous

I was never in love with vampires until Twilight came out. I didn’t know it was possible, but Stephenie Meyer changed the stereotypical blood-sucking vampire into a beautiful god-like creature.

In Twilight, an average high school girl, Bella Swan, falls in love with one of the most beautiful boys at her new school, Edward, who happens to be a vampire. What does one call a stunning, mysterious vampire and his stunning, mysterious vampire family? I believe “The Cullens” would suffice.

The author’s style and characters will glue your hands to the book and your eyes to the page. In no time, the book is over. But don’t worry – there are three sequels: New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.

Twilight is well written from Bella’s point of view. It feels as though a movie is playing in your head. If you don’t feel that way, have no fear, the actual movie comes out November 21.

Twilight is such a magnificent book that it was a New York Times bestseller. Who would have thought that the idea for such an astonishing book could come from a dream the author had?

The theme is love conquers all, even the supernatural. Nothing stands in the way of love for Edward and Bella. Or does it?

Meyer’s style of writing will have you wanting to believe that there are gorgeous vampires roaming our world and just hopefully there will be Edwards for all of the girls who have fallen in love with this fictional yet breathtaking character. Since the characters’ love is forbidden, it only makes it better. After all, forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest.

I agree with you completely. I have met some pretty big idiots who say Twilight is better than Harry Potter! It is ridiculous. I also know other idiots who have never picked up a book in their life, and claim that they "love" Twilight and it is better than any other book they have "read". They wouldn't dare go near a good book, no, they just like that there are hot guys in Twilight. *whacks self in head multiple times*

I disagree with you completely, this book has no point, the characters are the stupidest people ever created in a book (except like, Dora the Explorer) and the plot is so thin, I couldn't even tell their was one while reading. I am not trying to be offensive to you,I was merely sharing my very strong opinion  but if I offended you, I apologize. As long as you don't think Twilight is better than Harry Potter,or the Lord of the Rings, no offense is intended. I have submitted tis comment for another article as well.

Team Jacob for the movies! I really don't like Robert Pattinson, but Taylor Launter is a hottie. However, I am soooo Team Edward with the books. In the books, Jacob is too snotty and selfish, while Edward has a calmer more rational way of life. Separately, the movies and the books are AMAZING. But when they are placed together, don't even get me started!

It's strange how the overwhelming majority of Twilight fanatics have appalling grammar skills...

The reviewer claims that Meyer turns the vampire from a “Stereotypical blood-sucker” into a “beautiful god-like creature.” In reality, this is far from the truth. Vampires are SUPPOSED to be blood sucking creatures. That is their origin, and how they always should be. If you read about a bird, you don’t think of it as a “stereotypical winged creature.” You don’t even question it having wings because in order to be a bird, one must have wings. The same goes for vampires: In order for one to be a vampire, one must suck blood, as that is how vampires truly are. Anything else is merely a sad imitation. Likewise, a young, brooding teenager is far from god-like.

Twilight is not well-written, sad to say. I have seen the writing of grade-school children who surpass the level of writing of Twilight. Perhaps the most grave offense of Twilight, though, is it's bastardization of vampires. Now, everybody thinks vampire are brooding, angst-ridden teenagers, when in reality they are far from that. Though you may not want to believe it, Dracula is far better than Twilight.

I have to agree. The book is not all they say it is.

I fully agree with your opinion on the book, but I must ask... if your friend would shove you away because of a book, is she really your friend?

i don't think edward was supposed to be a "cute" guy anyway. I was thinking dark, mysterious, "perfect looking", and possibly hot body, but not really, you know, cute. I think Mike Newton was supposed to fill the "cute-country-boy" role. Just saying.

to claudiam: lol about the stephen king quote. to violinist: i think it's overrated now and the novelty has kinda worn off.

The books appeal to those idiots who never read, because it's a thick book about a hot guy. Yay. Did I mention he was immortal? No way!!! so...

I totally agree. I read the Twilight series almost 3 years ago already. I used to hate vampires, and my reading was okay but not outstanding. I read Twilight I fell in love with vampires, writing, and when the movies started being in production I fell in love with movie production.

Well written? Calling twilight well written is an insult to actually good authors. Stephenie Meyer, in the words of Stephen King, "can't write worth a darn."

It is well written just off a little on the way it is played out. Example, the reason the Cullens cannot show themselves in the sunlight and how vampires seem to dominate over the werewolves

Well-written; the book was amazing as were the other 3: New Moon, Eclipse, & Breaking Dawn.

I like the last line "After all, forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest"

I used to be quite obsessed with this series and now kinda loath it. I think I just really fell for the story about a quite average girl falling for some beautiful, intelligent, handsome creature. Its a nice thought though isnt it? To imagine some really great guy falling for you ? Rather read JODI PICOULT though xD
