The Warning
The moon vanishes quickly in the sky
And the soundless night is swiftly cracked.
As the shore birds let out a gaudy cry,
The empty, lonesome beaches stay intact.
The sounds of the waves crash upon the shore,
As the soft, tan sand begins to uncrumble.
The gray and white wings of the seagulls soar,
While the nascent sky colors jumble.
Sea shells glisten from water, so gracious,
As crabs tip-toe across to their next hole.
And nothing seems to appear more spacious
Until I see this divine, peaceful toll.
I sit and watch this beautiful morning
Unfold to me as a disguised warning.
