Taken Heart
You are as bright as the Earth’s honored sun,
The dimmest days glow beneath your lit face,
But never do they burn those on the run.
You leave no stinging cloak of red disgrace,
Only your sweet embrace and love’s soft kiss.
Your love does not fade like the sun’s brown cape,
It is eternal, endless warmth and bliss.
Seeing your facial painting all must gape,
Your bright beauty does not need shades to shield,
Your looks so tender no need to impart.
The sun speaks to all but your lips stay sealed,
You converse with only your taken heart.
Taken by me, a delighted young man,
With not the sun, but with my biggest fan.
