Freedom
I watch the masses of dark clouds roll in,
The thundering skies warn me to listen,
Bright flashes of lightning, make my head spin,
The falling rain makes the cement glisten
One drop falls and then a thousand proceed,
Smiling, I walk through the forest of rain,
Not knowing where to go, my feet will lead,
No path to follow, I make my own lane
I walk very slowly, taking my time,
Letting the bitter, cold breeze engulf me,
Ahead is a hill; I’m prepared to climb,
Through the mist of the rain, the top, I see
My journey’s not over, it’s just begun
I know it’s not over; I’m not near done
