Chains
Chains
Metal
It can be twisted and turned
Good or bad
Strong or weak
My best friend makes a metal loop
Attaching it to my heart
Pretty, red, protecting with love
Kind words from a stranger
Add to my ring
Love from my mother
Strengthens the chain
Though beautiful
these chains are hard to make
But so very fragile
And easy to break
When loved ones leave
My chain is weakened
They unbend the rings
Stabbing my heart
The chain i have left
Tries to be strong
Does it’s very best
To cover my bleeding heart
Though small, it remains unbroken
Saving the emotions I haven’t yet spoken

I was applying to be Poet Lauriet for my school. Sadly, I had something come up so I couldn't audition, but I think this turned out pretty well.
