Nature Has it's Ways
Sitting around this fire makes me think of you, the way you do the things you do.
So much like a fire we know you're dying.
Missing you this much was never the plan.
Somehow you're still in my head everyday.
You haunt every move I make and so much like a fire your heat is slowly fading away.
Looking at the waves crashing along the sand and watching the tide roll in makes me think of where we could have been now.
I'm remembering the days I spent with you on this beach.
We would watch the dark clouds roll in, so tangled in ourselves that we couldn't see the storm that was rising.
Looking out the window I can never tell if it's raining because my tears fall with the same rhythm like some love song that's fading.
My breath follows the beat as I count the ashes that trace every move the wind makes until they fall to my feet.
I wrap my arms around my self to keep from the cold.
Your heat is gone.
Without your smile it feels like the sun won't rise and there's not a doubt in my mind that it somehow won't ever again.
Remembering all the times we sat on the beach...
I'm trying so hard not to forget.
