Stars
Stars
I've always been fascinated with the stars
But twinkling lights are too cliche
To describe the infinite light that outstretches galaxies
Strings of white bulbs glued to a sky of paper mâché
The abstract infinity of the finer things
Has always inspired me
Stars.
I'm fascinated with their ability to shine
Despite the darkness that is intertwined
And they stand alone
Burning on their own
Without sight of a future, they shine
Stars.
The stars dance.
On a stage of darkness, they give their performance
A platform of disapproval
Yet, they look so beautiful
We applaud the shimmer of the tutus that encircle them in radiation
They join together to form majestic constellations
A masterpiece painted across a black canvas
We fall under a spell of admiration
Black painting smeared with shades of white
And sprinkled with billions of polka dots
We cheer them on
But fall at our knees for something they are not
We don’t even see the despair they undertake
Any second they could fall apart and break
We fancy the white ones
And consider them a royal spark
But a star is always the brightest
Before it becomes eternally dark
If its mass is strong enough to withhold all the pain of burning through the night
Giving away its own light
It can take on a whole new form of gravity
And magnificently
Evolve into a black hole
Swallowing the world around it whole
But no one would ever know
Because they see merely
Surface level beauty
But light years away
The stars are still in misery.
Stars.
Burning interior. Subject to the inferior.
They're contagious
Sparking a fire within us
Outrageous.
They provide us hope
In the midst of their dreadful situation
They sparkle for generations
Embarking on a mission
For medication
For their liberty
Yet only I see their beauty
How beautiful they are
Stars.
I cannot fathom the stars
And so many people miss it
With a "Goodnight moon,"
They kiss it goodbye
And fall into slumber
Arise and "Good morning, sunshine"
Hello to the color line
That fades from a black into a glorious blue
But no one ever sees the stars the way I do
And soon again the stars will creep out
Without a shadow of doubt
Hovering over them
They will still shine.
I've always been fascinated with stars
Because perhaps I'm just like them
Stars.

I've always been fascinated with stars, because they remind me of myself. Sometimes I stans alone, shining my light amidst the dark, hoping, just hoping to make a difference in the life of someone else. Deep down, I think we are all that way.
