Dear Diary
No one has ever looked through my diary
I've only ever shown them pages, excerpts
Never has anyone seen the tear splotches
Or the poetry that talks only of death
Until you came along
I trusted you, I let you look
And you repaid me with consolation
You taught me that love could exist without hate
You showed me the truth behind lies
And now the world has taken you away
If there is any god out there, he must not care
Because every moment without you is misery
Everything I do or say
Somehow brings me straight back to you
That has been the past year of my life
Struggling to hold myself together
Hiding behind the walls of this liar's castle I've built up
Discovering that love still hurts
No matter how much happiness is behind it
Love will always cause pain
Who knew you'd come along and save the day
Just like my knight in shining armor
And I'm the damsel in distress
Who knew I could love you so much
Just to have it all thrown away

There have been lots of people who have shown the truth of the phrase, but it's worth repeating: Love cannot exist without hate.
