cold metallic water
like you just went skinny dipping in my heart,
for fun.
Without intentions
of staying there forever,
you pumped through my veins
and
my heart expanded
to fit you inside.
You injected yourself
into my bloodstream
and you expect me
to breathe when you’re gone?
You let me taste the stars,
and your name glistens on the tip of my tongue.
I saw my reflection in your deep brown eyes
and I thought
maybe Heaven was real…
but my veins are still numb
and the night sky,
empty
