smoke + mirrors
in a room filled with smoke and mirrors
my eyes managed to find you
well, your inky silhouette against the neon lights
in a world of fleeting mirages
i still managed to touch your figure
and i mistook it for a testament
to the notion of us
not once did i question
why you blended in so smoothly
with mere reflections and falsities
and not once did i wonder
why you only said “i love you” in the dark
