First Day in a New Mountain Town
I woke up this morning, sun shining intensely from the open window next to my bed, burning my eyes.
Dust, I licked off the very chapped lips I had.
A new day, a fresh start.
The new kid in town.
The sound of birds chirping so crisp was the sound, even when I buried my head in the pillow.
I woke up and walked outside.
The smell of the arid mountain air.
The heat of the sun, radiating, slowly warming my skin.
I got ready for my day, putting on the soft cotton clothes.
Walked out into the living room, nobody awake yet.
I was overcome by the clammy feeling of waking up before normal.
I went into the garage, crying as i had never seen anything so beautiful,
The mountains had me in awe.
I felt so small.
Overcome.
