A Girl I once Loved
I loved you because you were from a different world;
Safety didn't matter,
Lies were never not told.
I loved you because you were beautiful.
In the way I was taught beauty was;
Dark eyes, dark hair, cream skin on delicate bones.
I loved you because you were clever,
In the way I was told a girl should not be.
But your eyes glistened with madness, and writhed with schemes.
You loved me for my worship;
I adored the crumbs of affection thrown my way.
My adoration was almost manic...
And when there was no need, you went away.
