Pigmented Riptides
Skipping stones across a stream to pass the time
That I’m not with you or lying next to you
Is the most ideal place to be beneath this sun
With the light shining down on my winter-paled skin
And the rocks jumping up and down for joy
But the ripples in the water make way
Leaving space for your reflection to creep up into my memory
And make me miss you
And when the sun hits the water at the perfect angle
It sends a glistening light wave my way
Like your eyes would every summer afternoon
When they would catch the sunset
And produce a shade of green to make the water jealous
And trying to get away for a nice, calm escape
Led to currents and waves of missing you
