Black, White
Black, white,
Cool to touch, sleek to feel.
A lingering aria,
Depressing and desolate.
Strokes on a sheet,
Marks and lines,
That guide the hand,
To play a piece.
Fumbling fingers that make mistakes,
Her misery is silent,
Key collides with her skin,
The calm is abruptly broken.
She yearns to absorb,
Knowledge, wisdom, skills,
She longs to apply,
Use and comprehend.
Crushed dreams and half-truths,
Like floundering in a black sea of agony,
Inner turmoil deals blows to her heart,
Distressing thoughts that cause grief.
A burning desire to please,
Unknown and unheard,
Yet to be fulfilled,
Black, white.
