Nightmares
Memories, memories, memories
eating at my mind.
drowning my soul.
The babies’ howls,
as they are stripped of their protectors,
the little shoes being piled.
Greedy men ripping gold,
out of prisoners’ mouths.
Me, being thrust to the ground,
or against a barbed fence.
A whip, lashing out at me.
I’m trying to run.
This is one of my many nightmares
of World War Two.
