Day's Dance
Long ago I saw
I saw the night
And the night
Saw me
That moment I knew
I knew it was love
And I think the night
Knew too
For a moment I watched
I watched his distant beauty
And the night
Watched mine
Then I took a step
I took a step towards bliss
And the night
Stepped back
For a moment I cried
I cried for want of love
And the night
Cried too
And then I realized
I realized he’d stepped toward me
And I think the night
Realized the same of me
So again I stepped
I stepped towards paradise
And the night
Stepped back
Ever since then we have danced
We have danced to a circular tune
But one day, we are sure, the music
Will change
