Promise Me
My little brother is my reason to live.
He always is happy to see me, and has so much to give.
He’s the cutest little kid I’ve ever seen
He’s the sweetest little boy, and is never, ever mean.
We have a game we play, just when we’re alone
I like to say “Promise Me you’ll do this once you’re grown”
He always does it, no matter how silly or crazy it might sound
One promise or two to break is where we’re bound
There’s a couple though I can’t let him forget
There’s are the most important needs that must be met
There are really three of the utmost request
They are these at my own behest:
First, Promise me you’ll not listen to what people say about me
What you see is true, do not be swayed to believe
That I am bad, or I am wrong,
Or that I am here to string Dad along
Second, Promise me you’ll not forget me ever.
I know I don’t always come around, but when I do it’s a pointless endeavor
Do not forget that I will always love you, no matter what
If I were to lose that, my heart would forever shut.
Last, but of the most importance, I swear.
Promise me you’ll never forget to love or care.
Never forget to love me, my baby brother, you.
For if you did forget, I don’t know what I would do.
My brother is my baby. He is the personification of everything I hold dear
My brother and my sister, both younger, are why I’m still here.
They are why I don’t run away
Without them, I would have real reason to stay.
