Beyond
Upon the hills of green
And below the sky
Painted with splashes of crimson and gold
Stood a girl
Eyes sky blue
But never ending like the shifting sea
With her head up
She gazed up and wondered
What was beyond the pink clouds that dotted the sky
Beyond the ever changing sky
Beyond the stars
Beyond the pitch black
Beyond and beyond
She reached out her hands
As if she could grab the answer if she reached far enough
She stood there for days
Until the weeds clung to her bare feet
Unwilling to let her go
But her arms stretched farther
And farther
Until they darkened into long brown limbs
Her fingers stretched out
Blossoming into ruby flowers
The ribbons flew off her hair
Sprouting wings
Taking off into the sky
And the girl now a tree stood
Lone on the hill
Exposed to the heavens
Arms reaching for what would forever be unknown to her
Beyond and beyond
