Herself
Who is this person I see?
She can't be real
A facade--a mask
Although made from real people
Fall short compared
To the girl within
But she see this not
Constantly trying to be
What she thinks everyone else wants
Parts of her have fallen away
Parts of her forever lost
So now the mask is placed
Obscuring who she is
None can see the truth
Only the costume she chooses
Fitting in with the crowd
Was all that was important
Can she ever find herself again?
To take off the shroud of insecurity
Would take far more courage
Than it took to put it on
Without, however,
She can be who she was born to be--
Herself
