But Tell Me
I watch as you tell her how much you love her,
How much you love her eyes,
Her smile,
Her hair,
Even the way she parts her hair
Because you love all of her.
But tell me, did you ever feel that way about me?
Did you ever love my hair but never have the confidence to say it?
Did you ever love my eyes but stared at them too long to remember to mention them?
Did you ever love me?
Did you even like me?
Could we have been a thing?
At night, I lie awake
Dreaming about what you and I could have been
If one of us just had the guts to say it.
Say those three simple, complex words
To the others face.
“I love you.”
But tell me, do you lie awake thinking about me?
Dreaming about me and you?
What we could have been?
Or do you just sleep and dream?
Dream about her
Something I can never be...
be...
be...
i love you...

I wrote this poem about my pent up feelings about a guy who barely acknowledges me and my favorite song, "Heather" by Conan Gray. Hope you enjoy!
