River Styx
Flowing endlessly from a source unknown,
Some must adjust their sail’s,
For summer will come far to fast,
By unrelenting gales.
Once strong winds treasured with velocity,
Have been cast overboard by curiosity.
Transforming from a skiff into a frigate
On a warpath fueled by rebellion,
It slows to a halt because of thickening viscosity.
Weighed down by love and hate,
Never knowing for sure, always feeling like bate
Being led into a trap like the soothing sound of a river before the falls.
Landing on a hollow riverbed, those calm waters and spring winds are yearned for yet again.
