Give me some Critics
Give me some critics
To downplay my poetic work.
Let them tell me it's not good enough.
Let them snicker and point and smirk.
Give me some critics
To mock it all for a while.
Let them belittle it and trample it,
But it will only make me smile.
Give me some critics
They will mock while I confuse them all.
They try to insult, but it can't be done.
Try to push me down, but you'll be the one to fall.
Give me some critics
To shout angry words and rage,
But I'll only chuckle softly, knowing
No one's words can lock me in a cage.
Give me some critics,
I need the praise of their mockery in my ears.
Being different enough to attract their jibes
Is a great joy - the reason for my cheers.
So give me some critics.
Yes, sincere praise is also nice,
But I find insults to be much better,
For I find warmth in the critics' cutting ice.
