At Odds With the Stars
They say that the stars determine it all
Every birth, every death, every trait
It is said they decide all our actions, our words
But me, I make my own fate
They try to convince me that every day
Is predetermined even before waking
I don’t believe that, there isn’t a chance
The future is mine for the taking
If they should try to tear me down
The path I’ve made will stay the same
Whatever obstacles they throw this way
Nothing shall block my aim
To fight for the real person I am
And to not give into to what I’m told to be
I will trudge through hell and back
As to show you that I will be me
The choices I make are entirely mine
My moral exertions and all of my sins
As for you, Stars, I’m running the show
I’ll let you take to the wind
