When It Was Easy
Life was a Sunday after church...
Playing games all afternoon
Playing cards, playing spoons,
A cold glass of lemonade,
Though the adults had tea
But that was when it was easy...
A jumprope and some chalk,
A sidewalk and a sunny day,
This was how we played,
No cell phones, iPods,
No X-box no wii...
But that was when it was easy...
We used to talk on the phone,
Take walks along the country side,
Watch the ever fowing tide...
Promises were kept forever,
Marriages for eternity,
but that was when it was easy.
We used to write letters,
No texting on the phone,
Now the silence leaves us alone,
Good men werent hard to find,
Kisses were pure and sweet,
but that was when it was easy.
Now I sit with pen and paper,
Writing back to you,
Knowing this is something true,
You mean the words you say,
You make me so happy,
You make everything so easy
