When you wake in the morning to
nothing but a crumpled pillow,

what matters?

When you look at the sky and realize
you have no one to look with,

what matters?

When you eat at an empty table
and wish and wonder for someone else,

what matters?

When you climb and triumph and see that
no one is there to pat your back,

what matters?

When you fall and fall and crash into
oblivion with no one to catch you,

what matters?

It is the points of our past that send us where we are
and bring us back when we are alone.
It is the warm hand that wipes your tears and
shushes your sobs.
It's the warmth that fills you when you find that
there is a place you belong after all.

It is the roots that matter.
It is the roots that keep us standing.

i like this a lot. it has a lot of raw emotion that you put into a well constructed poem. and i understand the circumstances you wrote it in...but none the less it's still a great poem...KUDOS!!! :) also, check out some of my work and post your comments :)

so this isn't actually much of a poem. I kind of threw it together in a couple of minutes. But I was in this angry mood where I despised all of the people who disown who they really are and where they come from. The only shame in life is when you're ashamed of yourself.
