Star Light, Star Bright
We find our spot
One single hidden corner
Among the thousand secret meadows
Within this significant world.
And we look past the leaves
And limbs and wish upon a star
For now, for tomorrow
For each day that awaits.
To leave, escape
Pull out and never look back
Bunker down in our spot
And live forever in this forests’ wake.
To coast through clouds
And dance in the fireweed
Catch a comet,
Ride a drop of rain.
To outlive the past we’ve abandoned
And seek the future our spot holds
Never grow old and live wild
Live free.
But I confide in you these desires
And by the look on your face
The twist of your lips
And the flash in your eyes
I see quite plainly
We have wished on two very different stars
For two tragically different endings.
