Young ears, tired of
“It might be a phase”
Hopeful lies covered in old
Clippings from love notes
You almost gave to
The pretty girl in your class
But never did, “‘cause
It’s unnatural”
And cherry lip balm lips
Are best off alone
Than they are kissing.
Timing each glance, no one sees-
“God forgives if you
Just forget” they say,
As if your emotions can
Switch off like theirs have,
As if sanctity
Of your love is less.
