Hanging on a Limb
When I was six years old, my grandpa would always take me out to play in the woods behind his house. We would play for hours on end, till we could hardly see each other. I loved it, spending time with him and exploring all the things nature had to offer us. The only rule my grandpa had was not to go out in the woods by myself after dark.
One day my grandpa was at work and I was spending the day with grandma. I was had run out of fun things to do and slowly becoming impatient. All I wanted to do was go outside with my grandpa and play the day away. Eventually, later in the day, I had finally decided that I would just go out and play by myself. It was later in the day, but that wouldn’t stop me from all the adventures I would have. Cowboys and Indians, Indiana Jones, Super spy, Star Wars, and ninja turtles of course.
I ran to one of my favorite trees in our small woods and began to climb. I felt like spider man, climbing so high and so fast, just like climbing the Empire State building. It was so much fun to be out here again, until I realized that I had climbed so high that there was no safe way for me to climb down. I was frightened beyond belief, my only hero and friend who could save me wasn’t there, and I was only here because I betrayed him. I was alone with no hope of escaping and no way for me to call for help. I cried for what seemed like an eternity and prayed someone would come for me.
Finally a hero came, my grandpa came back from work and came to my rescue. After getting a ladder and detaching me from the tree, I was safe again. I apologized for the next three hours and hugged him continuously. I promised I would never go out adventuring without him ever again!
