What Not To Do On A Football Team
I was walking with a group of friends slow trying to avoid the teachers. As we walked around the corner the superintendent was standing there like she knew what was about to happen. I wasn't nervous because I wasn't the one fighting. I mean how many people have not been or seen a fight in their life. At the beginning of the season, Coach Wentworth explained to us that we will never get involved in fighting situations or we will be instantly kicked off the team for the year. Me and Derrick, a freshman on the team didn’t think he would have found out about it. We go to Farmington high school in a small town. When we exit the school there is a little pathway in between the football, softball, and baseball fields. The grassy fields and muddy in fields are what I look at every day when I walk down the cement sidewalk. All of my friends and many other people I didn't even know existed always walk that way when schools out. Ms. Peabody picked me and him up on the golf cart.
We saw Officer McNulty running like really as fast as a cheetah the man has some wheels. As we turn around and looked Izea and Mal were screaming at each other about to throw some hands. I and Derrick hopped off the cart even though we weren't supposed to leave. We didn't want to be late for football practice so we ran faster than the wind could blow.
Derrick and I were ten minutes late, of course, the coach asked why and we said that we were just changing. He just made us run three laps which aren't bad but we were thinking about what he would do if he knew what we were really doing. We didn't really think it was that big of a deal at the time but I realize now that it was a big deal and it was stupid to disappoint coach cause that makes us have to earn our trust back.
I didn’t know if he was going to find out and at the moment I didn’t really care if he did because it was my friend and I wanted to be there just in case something happened. Alright back to the fights the first one was going to be Kevin a junior and Jaw a freshman but they both took MMA so they were trained. They didn’t have any beef or anything it was just like a friendly sparring match in a way.
Fights have always happened but there has never been a situation where there were two fights getting broken up in the same three to four minutes. So the second fight was going to be Mal and Izea because Izea was supposedly calling his sister naughty names. I don't know what the names were that he was calling him but Izea kept denying it and then they took there bags of and they were going to throw hands but Ms.Peabody whipped over there with the cart with me and Derrick on the back. And that's when we took our chance to get away and get to practice. Ms.Peabody came to our practice and told the coach about it and the punishment affected not only us but the whole team. We ran 14 laps on the biggest field you can imagine. Coach gave me and Derrick another chance that we were so thankful for.
This was a good life lesson for me. It shows that your actions have consequences. It also showed me that some bad decisions you have may not just affect you it could affect many people around you. I know that I would never do this again because I love football it is my life and I would never know what to do if I couldn’t play.
