Andre A. is no ordinary dad, he is an Army dad. He serves for his country with pride and honor. You will not find another strong leader like this middle-aged man. Where is this leader? He is at home spending time with a family of six. He is now on leave so that his family could see him before he goes back to Ft. Benning, Georgia to finish up officer training school. He has accomplished so much while being in the army and I am glad I got to have a few words with him.











Q: What made you the person you are today?


A: My own will.

Q: What was your child life like?
A: (silence) Good

Q: If you could change a mistake you have made in the past what would it be?
A: I don’t know. I may have to think about that one.

Q: Who inspires you the most?
A: My wife, Kelly. She always works hard. Putting everybody before herself.

Q: Was there ever a point when you just wanted to give up and quit?
A: Yep

Q: What is it like being the parent of four active children?
A: Pain in my neck. It’s hard. They don’t listen but in the end it’s fun.

Q: What do you expect out of your children?
A: Everything. 100% in everything they do. Respectful to elders, well mannered and responsible.

Q: Why do you serve for the Army?
A: Defend my country. I like it. It is a challenge.





Q: What do you plan on doing when you retire?
A: Travel. Kelly and I. Take cruises all over the world.

Q: What is your schedule at home with the family?
A: Work all day. Drive people to practice. It’s non-stop.

Q: If you weren’t the person you are today what would you do?
A: (silence-stunned) I don’t know.

Q: Were there any other jobs you had in the past besides the Army?
A: Yes. I worked at a prison, Wendys and Hardees. Then I joined the military.


Q: Was it your dream to join the Army and serve for your country?
A: No.

Q: If you had an option of going to Iraq would you go?
A: I’ll go because it’s my duty to go. It’s my duty to defend my country from terrorists.

Q: What are your feelings about the Army?
A: The Army is good. I have no feelings. I like the Army—I love the Army.
