The Picture of Life
The picture of life
Those are the words, as sharp as a knife
And as quiet as the drop of a pin.
They remind me of thousands of trees dancing in the wind,
Of rivers running to cool, clean oceans.
The picture of life
Those are the words, as loud as thunder on a stormy night
And as dull as a pencil unsharpened.
They remind me of time before time, life before life,
Of oceans before fish, Earth before plants.
These words I speak of, they may mean nothing,
But, then again, they may mean everything.
These words I speak of are those of life,
A life that I wish were mine.
