Barbie Movie Review
Barbie, a 2023 comedy, stars Margot Robbie as the main Barbie, who begins experiencing an observed crisis. She must travel to the human world in order to understand herself and discover her true purpose.
This film got so much attention from social media. Everyone was posting on their socials about how amazing the barbie movie was and how inspiring it is to young children. So when I walked into the movie theater one Tuesday night, I was expecting to see a comedy. I saw something completely different from that.
Nothing happened in the movie, there was no plot. One minute she was a barbie the next she’s a human. There was no plot behind why she transformed from Barbie to human, she just went through a portal and was then human. The film creators wanted the film to be relatable to other adults and teens but it was in fact the opposite. I couldn’t relate to this movie at all because the scenes were so unrealistic and thoughtless.
This film was way too over hyped. I expected more from the film creators. I understand the message of “girl empowerment,”which I totally love. But I wanted a real movie with a real plot and action, there was none of that. I was looking for a wow factor and I never got that .
The characters in Barbie world were cartoony and foolish, and by bringing them into the human world, it made the real world scenes less impactful—even though they were supposed to be the most important part of the film.
The one thing I can’t complain about in this film is the acting. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the main actors, played their role excellently. I think they both understood their character and acted with real, raw emotion. But unfortunately having good actors can’t save a film without a plot .
If the Barbie movie writers really wanted to have an impact on people, they should have actually had a plot behind the film and not just hype it up on social media.

I like this piece because it is a different view on the barbie movie, most people love the barbie movie, but this review shows another perspective of the movie.
