            Imagine being dropped in the middle of the Great Depression in the Jim Crow South. “To Kill a Mockingbird,”after the book  by Harper Lee and directed by Robert Mulligan grabs viewers and leads them into a world where they are forced to look at the crucifiction of one man to fuel the ego and prejudice or a small town.

            Produced by Alan j. Pakula “To Kill A Mockingbird .The 1962 based classic covers racism and its influence on the American court system. The Novel retells the story of injustice  many African American men in the sixties had to face. The movie is a coming of age story based during the great depression, a time in which children ran wild throughout the streets parentless restless and hungry. America starving for a tomorrow that brought warmth and stability. The movies has won countless awards including the Golden Globe Award for Best film Promoting international understanding.

          The movie tells the story or a black man Tom Robinson, accused of raping a white girl Mayella Ewell. The director guides viewers along through the courtroom battle for his freedom and the  different lives of the characters involved. Gregory Peck winner of the Golden Globe award for best actor in a motion picture drama, is breathtaking as he plays Atticus Finch the lawyer of Tom Robinson, and the father of Jem and Scout played by Mary Badham . All eyes are on Atticus during the rouse courtroom scenes, he plays the lawyer of Tom Robinson.

            Atticus Finch steals the spotlight in a cunning and commendable manner.Unlike most of the fathers in his town Atticus is not a farmer but instead he is a lawyer. Atticus works with many different cases causing the way he raises his children to differ from the conservtive towns people he is surrounded by. Atticus makes it his job to educate his children on the effects of racism and prejudice. Gregory peck has an impeccable performance playing Atticus Finch. Watching him slip in and out of scenes edgeding viewers closer to the edge of their seats.In the court it was like I had traveled into a real trial and every bit of anxiety and anticipation flowed through me.

               Everyone should watch the American classic “To Kill a Mockingbird”. This dive into the Great Depression brings life to the history books we were all made to read as American children. It’s no wonder the tendentious  movie did so well in theatres and goes down as one of America’s greatest classics. There is passion in every actors movements. It’s as if they were created for these roles. The movie is a raw look into racism and the injustice African Americans continuously have faced throughout American history. The movie doesn’t sugar coat anything, and acknowledges real issues that light hearted movies tend to sweep under the carpet. “To Kill a Mockingbird” leaves no room for comfort,  and did as art is supposed to do.
