The book “The Giver” is about Jonas’s whose world is perfect. His world has no color or memories. Everything is under control and there are no choices.  Every person is assigned a role in the community. When Jonas turns 12, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. It’s time for Jonas to receive the truth of life and memories.

I really liked the book “The Giver”. It was a very interesting and very reflective. It makes you think of the beauty of life in the world, and what might we do better to make this world a better place. What I have learned from this book is about the significance of human life. That memories are important and life is not just about rules. I love how the author put scenes of different memories and he used his 5 senses to know how things felt, looked, sounded, etc. This book has a lot of positive messages, and some violence scenes. The book also has some sexual parts in only one chapter. The book is more of a young adult book because the storyline is more complex for a child, but I would highly recommend this book to all people and kids who know how to read and understand a chapter book.

Some quotes of the giver are “’The Worst Part of Holding the memories is not the pain. It’s the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared’” (The Giver 154). I love this quote because it makes me think about how important your memories are. Another Quote that I like is “Memories are forever” (Giver 144).
