Jay Asher hit an important and sometimes touchy topic. Not many of us can talk about suicide. Thirteen Reasons Why helps teens and or parents to bring up this topic and I think that it is great he wrote a book based on this problem. This topic needs to be talked about, it's a huge issue that's difficult for us to understand. Also, some people can relate to Hannah Baker's feelings. I know personally, there were some lines I’d read and think I've either seen those situations or been in that situation myself. There were some parts in the book that I think could've been avoided.

Although yes, I think it was great this topic to bring up, but I think it could have been written better. There were some scenes where I read it and thought Hannah could have prevented that situation. I do absolutely think the rape and the fact that Mr. Porter told her to get over it was cruel and horrible. Rap is indeed another issue we have in this disgusting world. I personally think the rap scene with Bryce wasn't totally Hannahs fault but partially. Hannah could've walked away, but instead, she took off her clothes and got into the hot tub with Bryce there. From previous events, she seen Bryce in it wasn't the smartest decision on her part. Plus in my opinion, guys get turned on and want a girl, even more, when she is in a bra and underwear. I’m hoping this would never happen in real life someone leaves tapes behind explaining whose fault it was for her death. Suddenly just leaving the world leaving these mysterious tapes leaves people to possibly always forever blame themselves for your death when yes some should be blamed, but as I finished this book I felt like she did all of this just to get back at them.

This book had me thinking what I would’ve and could’ve done if I was in her position. When Jessica was getting raped by Bryce and Hannah was hiding she could've yelled and told him to stop. Although I would be frightened he might come and rape me too, but if I was really friends with that person who was/is getting raped I would do everything in my willpower to prevent it.

I do think Thirteen Reasons Why is a book that addresses an important topic, but it should only be read by teenagers that won’t look at suicide as the only option left. I hope this book will make them realize there will always be people here for them to help them, even when it seems like there's no one there is someone.
