“Okay, so it’s a stolen car rap, kidnapping, driving without a license, damaging city property, and plus traffic violations.” What do you first think when pick up a book that that has a really cool book cover?

The book cover on this book is, of course,is similar to the title which is Kick. And it has to do with soccer which really caught my attention but it wasn't really what I was expecting the book to be about.

The main character, Kevin, is a soccer player in which he plays in a team of course. He's a kid who's on probation and probably can even go into Juvenile Detention Center. His desire is to play soccer. His probation officer, Sergeant Brown, is the one who will decide if Kevin can handle being in a normal and not having his temper go up high. Kevin is a kid who got in trouble with the law. He was driving a car with his girl, when he didn't had a license. The car was from the girl's dad. Kevin crashed into a light pole. When the dad found out he pressed charges on Kevin. Since then Kevin has to be on probation and not to do something bad, or else he'll go to Juvenile Detention Center. He plays soccer but no one can really trust him because his temper is really bad, he gets into fights so easy. So Sergeant Brown tries to talk with Kevin telling him to take everything easy cause if not he could get into much more trouble and end up in Juvie.

As you can see you normally would think that this book be about soccer but it's mostly about a teenage kid getting into trouble with the law. This is not what I was expecting so I really didn't like it because the book cover made me think it's about soccer but it's not.

The author of this book, Walter Dean Myers, is a very excellent writer who writes many books and is really good at it. He dropped out of high school at the age of 16 and joined the military on his 17th birthday. After leaving the army he remembered about his English teacher telling him that he had to continue writing because he was good at it and that's what he did, that's when he began his writing career and now he's one of the best writers in the nation or even world.
