Shattering Glass by Gail Gilens
The novel Shattering Glass by Gail Gilens is about a student in high who is bullied by the the most popular kid in the school. The bullied student is named SImon Glass. However, Glass gets his revenge on that bully and gets him to go down in the social ladder while he went up. On his journey towards the throne he discovers secrets that weren’t meant to be discovered that would affect the live of his new friends which will cause him dearly for finding out.
Glass is given the chance to raise his social ranking. Rob Haynes is the guy who helps Glass even though there’s is nothing that Rob can get out of it. With hesitation, Rob’s friends Bob, Coop, and Young all coperate in Rob’s master plan. Young is the one who likes the idea the least. He feels that Glass is taking his spot in the group and is getting crowded out.
The whole idea of having someone from the depths of the social leaderboard get raised up to king and be respected throughout high school is very inspirational. The way that the author presents unexpected turn of events make it worthwhile to read the novel. However, the one thing I hated the most is that the author inserted the details of the ending of the book right in the middle and throughout the book. That ruins the experience of reading the book. Not only that, but the author didn’t even add the full ending to the whole story where it belongs, in the end. But, like any other thing in life it is not perfect, but it is still a great book to read.
The novel has something for everyone because it has many types of moods that the story goes through. But, the thing that the novel makes more clear is that it has to do with a lot of mystery. I do like the way that the author presents the dark moments in the storyline, but I feel that it didn’t have enough of it.
