Shattering Glass by Gail Giles
In the book Shattering Glass author Gail Giles tells of a bumbling buffoon Simon Glass and his journey to the top. His path to the top is assisted by a small town group of kids looking forward to the challenge of turning this nobody into a class coolest, but along this challenge some dark sides are discovered between characters. There's mystery and adventure throughout this entire book with a bit of romance.
In this book, Simon Glass is transformed into perfection by a group of boys with Rob Haynes leading the pack. This group change nearly every aspect that the school knew him of, and with Simon's own riches, it didn't take long to become popular. The overall goal was to have this nerd be elected class favorite at the end of the year, and Rob will do anything to achieve his goal.
This book is mainly taken place inside a high school or with high school activities going on, so it is very easy to make connections for me a high school student. In my personal high school career i’ve noticed several individuals who could be transformed, and several individuals who could do the transforming. When Rob first approaches Simon is my favorite part of the book because it shows Simon for who he really is.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, horror, or romance, and is looking to be disappointed upon completion. This book would also be great for anyone to be left hanging and wanting another chapter, or someone wanting regret for choosing it. If you like this book, you should also read Mockingjay, The Fault In Our Stars, or Divergent. You will be equally disappointed with all of these as well.
