The 5th Wave is an action-packed book about an alien race trying to take over Earth.  It is a book written by Rick Yancey.  I think anyone that likes adventurous books should try reading this book.  It is a solid 4 star book.  The story is great. There are all types of twists and turns.  The characters are masterfully thought up and just flat out awesome. Also the author’s voice is funny and unique.

One of the main themes of the book is trust in one another.  The aliens main goal was to tear humanity apart so they could trust no one.  “You can’t band together to fight without trust.  And without trust, there was no hope.  How do you rid the Earth of humans?  Rid the humans of their humanity.”

The story begins when a giant alien ship arrives on Earth.  After the ship sits in silence for some time, it sends its first wave; all power goes out on the planet.  Second wave: giant tsunamis destroying all coastal cities. Third wave: a disgustingly deadly virus that wipes out 99% of the population. Fourth wave: that's when human bodies with alien consciousness come for us. Fifth wave: “It's like a cockroach working up a plan to defeat the shoe on its way down to crush it.”

This story revolves around four characters, Cassie, a 16 year old girl whose confidence is wavering.  She says, “Sometimes I think I might be the last human on Earth.” Sam, her little brother, a cute little boy that may seem more brave than his older sister. Ben, highschool football star that she worships. And last, Evan, big hunky farm boy who mysteriously shows up.

Yancey’s writing in the novel, The 5th Wave, is thoughtfully written.  When he's not writing he is traveling the world. By traveling the world it makes his writing that much better.  His writing is very creative and unique while still having a very funny voice.

In conclusion, I recommend this book, The 5th Wave, to all of you.  When I was reading the book I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough.  If you enjoy adventurous books then this is the book for you.  It will make you feel like you are living through each and every wave right there with the characters.
