I'm reading the book 'HERO' by Perry Moore and so far I have been enjoying it. The story is set in modern times and presents modern issues that teens struggle with, but there's a little more than pimples and popularity to this story. The main character, Tom Creed, is a teenage boy with who loves sports and most importantly his dad. He doesn't really know who he is yet as a person but that's typical for a highschool kid. There are some things about Tom that he hides, for his own good and his father's. One being that he is gay and the other... that he has superpowers. He has a few instances in the story where he uses his powers to heal people who have been majorly injured. Tom's dad doesn't allow him to read, look at, or even talk about heroes and even worse, Tom's dad is a homophobe (But it is only because Tom's dad has a dark past with heroes and is sort of an old school dude, he loves Tom more than anything but he's just scared for/of him). So Tom is basically trapped inside himself, he cant show his dad who he truly is which really bites. For how much i have read I'd say that this book is a solid 3 out of 5, only because i haven't read it all yet so I'm still waiting for more content and plot development but overall i expect this book to blow me away once I finish it.
