Scar Boys

The book Scar Boys is a novel full of adventure, with tidbits of romance, music, and drama. This book shows how the music industry plays out off stage and on stage. The main character is Harbinger (Harry) Jones along with his friends Johnny, Cheyenne, and Richie. Through the adventure Harry goes through the stages of grief, guilt, and love.
The book starts with a normal child in elementary school, and he get bullied. He gets tied to a dogwood tree and gets struck by lighting. Some of the best parts of the book are when Cheyenne and Johnny break up and Harry comforts her. I like that the most because Johnny got what he deserved. Another great time was when the band is caught in a thunderstorm and Harry gets super scared (because he was tied to a tree that got struck by lightning and became scared). A few good times where when the band played at the gigs and no one really cared what Harry looked like, all they cared about was the music he played. The other good part was when Harry met Dr. Kenny, and Dr. Kenny told Harry to find what you have in common with people not what is different. Some of the worst times where when Harry was super depressed and started to smoke with the guy who towed their car. But the worst time of all is when his own father called him a freak (because he was scared from the lighting) on vacation.
This book is faced to people who like music or people who play music, well it can be both at the same time. You should read this book because it is about playing music for fun not the money or fame.  Also the way Len Vlahos wrote the book made his past very clear like he was telling us his story as Harry. The reason I say that is because Vlahos was in a band in high school. He also went on tour with the group. My opinion on the book is more of an interested and mindful. The reason I say that I was mindful is because when I read something or meet someone new, I keep an open mind because something is different to you is not different to them. Again I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who loves music or likes to listen to it. I also found out that Audible has the book on there so if you don’t like to read you can listen to Scar Boys.
