In a small regional mining town named Corrigan lives a regular boy named Charlie Bucktin, but his story is unlike those of all the other boys and girls in his grade. Charlie is a nerd at his school, he’s not athletic nor has he tons of friends, just a straight out nerd. His only friend is Jeffrey, he’s a Vietnamese student, he’s just as brilliant as Charlie is but, even more deviant. For Charlie the days are all the same going to school, hanging out with Jeffery, then coming home and reading books for the rest of the night, but something unusual happened to Charlie one night that will change his life forever. Not knowing who or what it is tapping on his window he freaks out and gets ready for the worst. As he opens the window It’s Jasper Jones! A young, buff, and quiet boy that no one really knows. As Charlie has a million thoughts going on inside his head right now he can’t help but think why is Jasper Jones knocking on my window? Quickly but quietly Jasper says I Need You! Those three words are what leads Charlie to follow Jasper into the woods in the middle of the night. As they finally get to where they need to go after walking for awhile Jasper stops and tells Charlie to go forward. As Charlie does hoping that he will be alright in the woods, far from home with a stranger in the middle of the night. Charlie walks a couple more steps and sees a weird like figure as he walks up to it... it’s a girl! Not moving, lifeless, and cold just hanging there from a tree. As Charlie realizes what he is seeing, he can’t do anything but want to scream and go tell his parents. He then realizes, that he’s all alone, with a dead body, in the middle of the woods with a stranger. He starts to panic and thinks of the worst to come. He doesn’t know what to do. Does he run, does he scream, does he hide, or just cry. As Jasper comes up from behind and puts his hand on Charlie’s back, Charlie can’t move it’s like he is frozen to the ground and can’t get away, even if he did want to run as fast as his feet could carry him he wouldn’t know which direction to run to. Charlie eventually turns around and Jasper is standing there ready to tell Charlie everything.

I recommend reading this book if you love the movie “Sherlock Holmes” and if you're into solving mysteries. This book caught me off guard not knowing what's going to happen next. There are a lot of mind clenching and head bobbing involved with this book.
