Continue reading if you would like to find out a little more about the book.
At the start, Cole was a kid with a troubled past. Then one day at school, just when he thought things couldn’t get worse, he got in big legal trouble that resulted in him having to make a lot of difficult decisions and overcome many obstacles. Since he was at risk of going to juvie he was offered an ultimatum, the justice circle. The justice circle is more than just serving your time but spiritually heal as well. But what will Cole do? Go to juvie or be sent to live on an Alaskan island to heal? Pick up the book to find out how he heals and returns from his bad past.
Some reasons I believe you should pick up the book is because it's a relatable and light hearted story. Since Cole Matthews is a teenager a lot of his actions portray what many teenagers do which makes it relatable. Even though I only read this book because it was demanded by my teacher I still ended up enjoying it a lot. Another reason is that the story is light hearted because it includes figurative language and humor throughout the story.
Overall, I believe this is a great read that would be great for any age group. It's very descriptive so it allows for visualization throughout the story. This makes it so you feel a part of the story and that the author is connecting to you. I also feel that this book leaves you off with inspiration to not leave things unfinished and to never give up no matter what you go through.
In conclusion, Touching Spirit Bear is a great read for anyone and tells the story of juvenile delinquent Cole Mathew’s healing journey. So if you would like a fictional story that is light hearted and easy to relate to then go pick up Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelson.
