Confessions of a Murder Suspect is the intriguing beginning of the Confessions series by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. The novel starts off with the murder of Malcolm and Maud Angel, the parents of Tandy Angel, the narrator of this series. Since the house was locked, and showed no signs of an intruder, Tandy and her three brothers are the main suspects in their parent’s murder. With the detectives on the case almost completely positive that it was an Angel, and Tandy herself not being too sure that the killer isn’t, Tandy feels like this is a case only she, and her super intelligence, can solve. But it’s hard to try and solve the murder of her parents when there are holes in her memory and she’s not sure that she isn’t the killer herself…
As Tandy delves deep into her parents lives, the secrets she learns would be enough to completely shatter her opinions of her parents. If she was normal. And as she learns her parents’ secrets, she discovers some of her own that will change her forever…
Confessions of a Murder Suspect isn’t what you would expect from a mystery novel. It doesn’t have much, or really any action. And it is somewhat of a slow start. But this is where the book is really unique. There are certain chapters throughout the book titled ‘Confession’ where Tandy takes the time to reveal certain details about her past, her families, or just details that add so much to the plot,  At any rate, my favorite parts of the book were whenever we, the readers, got an extra look inside Tandy’s head and learn her family's many secrets.
