Being Different isn't a Bad Thing

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a very interesting book. It's about a teenager named Charlie a freshman in high school who is not popular. He is shy but it's because of a mental issue because of something that happened when he was younger. Charlie meets two unique kids that are nothing like him; a guy named Patrick: happy, outgoing, and gay and a girl named Sam: outgoing and beautiful. They get Charlie out of his comfort zone and introduce a new world to him of sex and drugs, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and music.

The author Stephen Chbosky wrote this book very well, but it's not like those average books that get straight to the point. He wrote this book differently. For example he put the letters that Charlie wrote to his so called 'friend' and he plotted the book very well and differently. The characters were very well developed and it's easy to connect with Charlie, although some people don’t have a mental issue, some people can connect with his other characteristics. For example the anti-social part, It doesn't feel very pleasant being around a lot of people and making conversation with new people. Having outgoing friends is good for anti-social people; they introduce you to new things you probably didn't even know about and they bring out a better you. Nothing is better than having outgoing friends especially when they are different than you.

The best part of the book is when Sam, Patrick, and Charlie go on adventures, just have fun and escape from reality. It's great how Charlie makes his high school experience seem so fun and different. It makes you want to have those type of adventures and just have fun in high school but we all know some of that can't come true for us. But as some people say "have experiences in high school you won't forget" but not the ones you'll regret.

This book will make you laugh, cry, and keep reading it because of how good it is. I really recommend this book to teenagers 14 years and older. You cannot miss it, it feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity. Charlie and his friends will make your high school experience way more interesting and your personal life as well.
